OUR CARS
The EM-01 was the first designed car that we took to competition.
The design was divided into 5 departments: aerodynamics, dynamics, electronics, powertrain, and finally chassis and ergonomics. These departments have served as a guide and have been slightly modified over the years.
The lines followed by the technical department for the design of the prototype were mainly: simplicity, efficiency and reliability. For this, the main characteristics of the vehicle were: tubular spatial structure, rear-wheel drive internal combustion engine, as well as direct double A-arm suspension.
EM-01
After meeting the previous year's goal of passing all MOT and being able to participate in FSS, the team set a new goal of increasing vehicle reliability in order to maximize the overall score. The team focused their efforts on fixing all the bugs found in the Season 1 vehicle.
EM-02
The EM-03 combustion car was designed to optimize the weight of all components as well as the structure.
The net weight of the car resulted in approximately 5kg lighter than the EM-02, fulfilling the goal of reducing body weight. The biggest problem was the fastenings to be able to assemble and disassemble it.
As a general objective, they set out to try to obtain greater rigidity and more efficient cooling. The minimum requirements for the chassis-suspension rigidity ratio were met, but not the proper distribution.
The design started with a CAD done in SolidWorks that was converted to a surface in Catia from which the mould was designed and manufactured.
